By Lisa Przybysz

🏨❤ 🐕 🏨❤ 🐕‍🦺 🏨❤ 🦮PET-FRIENDLY HOTELS: Pamper Your Pet!

More and more pets are being considered family members, and we love to pamper our furry friends just as much as any other family member! Across the U.S., the rise of Emotional Support Animals and increased acceptance of pets has made it easier than ever to travel with your pet.

Many hotels now welcome pets, and some even designate a dog as their official "Hotel Ambassador."

Take Lenny The Boston, for example—a famous Hotel Ambassador and social media influencer with over 105k Facebook followers and 100,876 likes! Lenny is the first-ever Official Canine Critic for Hotels.com and is greeted at various hotels with special perks like a comfy dog bed, personalized food and water bowls, bags of treats, and toys. Hotels are quickly becoming more pet-friendly—so now, your dog can be treated like a VIP (Very Important Pet)!

8 Tips for Ensuring Your Dog’s Comfort in a Hotel Room:

  1. Choose a pet-friendly hotel.

  2. Book ground-floor rooms for easy access.

  3. Let your dog explore their new environment.

  4. Bring familiar items like their bed, blanket, and toys from home.

  5. Keep their routine as consistent as possible.

  6. Exercise! Exercise! Exercise!

  7. Provide calming techniques like white noise or CBD oil.

  8. Avoid leaving your dog alone in the hotel room.

Other helpful tips:

  • Create a designated sleep area for your dog.

  • Consider using a crate to provide a sense of security.

  • Treat the hotel room with the same care as you would when visiting someone else's home.

  • And don’t forget to check the hotel’s pet policy ahead of time for size restrictions or specific rules!

Excellent article! My parents recently adopted a puppy and they also like to travel a lot, so I know this has been a concern for them. Thankfully they live in a small town where many people are willing to help take care of one another's pets (and I help too!), but it is certainly good to know for reference.
