HOW TO KNOW IF YOUR DOG IS HEALTHY?

Just like some people have health problems, dogs do too.

🐾 MISSY was my dog growing up, a Beagle now in Heaven.

She had EPILEPSY and would sometimes have SEIZURES and VOMITING. She was OVERWEIGHT. She could chase a squirrel on the fence at full speed!

🐾 My dog, BANDIT, a Border Collie now in Heaven, was HEALTHY, ACTIVE, and ENERGETIC except for hip dysplasia, only bothered him occasionally, common in Border Collies. He still caught frisbees and balls up high in the air like a pro!

🐾 My little rescue dog, TEDDY, a black Pomeranian now in Heaven, had a HIP JOINT that would sometimes go in and out of place. He had SURGERY, and it helped alot. He also had times when he VOMITED, NO APPETITE. He loved to   carefully go on my bedroom window sill and walk across it like a little tightrope walker! He wanted me to see what he could do!

HOW TO KNOW IF YOUR DOG IS HEALTHY

EYES - Clear, bright, no redness or discharge

EARS - Clean, no excessive wax, no odor

MOUTH - White teeth, pink gums, fresh breath

RIBS - Not visible, evenly distributed, not prominent

BEHAVIOR - Happy, friendly, engaged, playful, energetic, love people

LEGS - Strong, sturdy, stable gait, no limping

NOSE - Cold, wet or damp

SKIN - Clean, dry, but not dehydrated, no sores or visible irritation, no lumps, no swelling

HERE ARE MORE TELLTALE SIGNS:

✅️ Rapid tail wag  

✅️ Shiny coat  

✅️ Normal weight  

✅️ Normal potty or 💩  

✅️ Engaged, alert, active  

✅️ No discomfort, illness

HOW TO KNOW IF YOUR DOG ISN'T HEALTHY

Visual SIGNS of ILLNESS in a Dog:

✅️ Severe pain   

✅️ Vomiting   

✅️ Lethargic   

✅️ Fever/high temperature    

✅️ Diarrhea (especially with blood)   

✅️ Coudy, red eyes, excessive discharge    ✅️ Swollen glands   

✅️ Swollen gums   

✅️ Excessive thirst   

✅️ Bloated abdomen    ✅️ Hives & swelling   

✅️ Sudden change in mental status
