How To Prevent & Get Rid of Your Dog's Fleas!

HOW TO PREVENT & GET RID OF YOUR DOG'S FLEAS

📍

After a FUN time outside at the DOG PARK, or a sniff-tastic LONG WALK in the woods, your dog is...

I T C H Y!

It could be...

F L E A S!

Dr. Michael Kearly, DVM, says, "Long story short, they get fleas from the ENVIRONMENT like in the GRASS and WOODED AREAS."

Dogs may get fleas from:

1. YOUR YARD -

Fleas jump from your grass onto your dog. The flea eggs often drop in your yard from OTHER ANIMALS.

2. WILD OR STRAY ANIMALS -

🦝 Raccoons

🐇 Rabbits

🐿 Squirrels

🐕 Stray Cats or Dogs

3. OTHER DOGS -

When your dog is playing with, or close to, another PUP PAL, your dog is easily EXPOSED to FLEAS.

4. YOU -

You may SPREAD FLEAS to your fur pup after being OUTSIDE, fleas jump on you, your clothes, or shoes. Then, when you GREET your dog, fleas hop from you onto your dog.

Dr. Kearly says, "Fleas are way EASIER to PREVENT than TREAT."

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

1. SCHEDULE A VET VISIT

There are a variety of different products to PREVENT and KILL FLEAS on your dog like:

↪️ Bravecto

↪️ Tasty Chews

↪️ Nexgard

↪️ Comfortis

↪️ Simparica

↪️ Collars like Seresto

SIGNS YOUR DOG HAS FLEAS:

✅️ Black dots known as "flea dirt" in your pet's fur

✅️ Hair loss

✅️ Hot spots

✅️ Red skin with bumps

✅️ Itching, biting, & scratching their skin

Dr. Sandra Mitchell. DVM, says, "A common place is to hang out on the thinly haired belly, as well as the base of the tail." She adds, "A careful look in these areas may reveal the insect moving about or a salt & pepper look that indicates flea eggs."

⚠️ If your dog is extra itchy or you've actually seen the evidence, visit your VET as SOON as you can get an appointment!

2. TREAT with VET products

Your VET can HELP:

➡️ Capstar is a fast-acting flea killer

➡️ Grooming with a flea comb

➡️ Dog friendly shampoo

3. TIME TO CLEAN...

GAME ON FLEAS!!!

✳️ How To Get Rid of Unwanted Guests:

↪️ WASH all toys and bedding (your's and your pets).

↪️ VACUUM your CARPET, RUGS & ANYWHERE your dog likes to LAY DOWN. Vacuum often if the flea infestation is intense.

↪️ Time to break out a bottle of Flea Spray! (Use as directed)

4. CHECK YOUR OTHER ANIMALS

Your dog is like a salt shaker that drops flea eggs wherever they walk or sit.

I remember taking my dog, BANDIT (now in Heaven) to the WOODED TRAILS. HE LOVED IT! I was concerned about TICKS & FLEAS. I checked him all over when we got home. I do remember him being itchy. He got a tick one or two times. I FOUND them. I CLEANED and would VACUUM everywhere!

〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️

5. KEEP UP WITH TICK AND FLEA PREVENTION

Dr. Kearly, DVM, says, "Fleas are way easier to prevent than treat. Follow a parasite regimen and STICK TO IT!
