Do's and Don'ts of Dogs in the Workplace
The most challenging part of the day for pet lovers is leaving their pets at home when they go to work.
I have a deep-rooted passion and love for dogs. I have 3 fur angels in Heaven. Dogs love us more than themselves. You are their world and would do anything for you!
Here are some do's and don'ts, and tips to ensure that you and your pup are happy and productive at your workplace.
On a personal note:
It would make my day if a coworker brought their dog to the office. They turn any frown upside down!
There are other options to explore and consider like dog sitters, "play"care, neighbors, family, and friends to visit and help with your dog.
Make sure you pack a doggy bag with:
💩Doody bags
🦴Water and food bowls
🦴Treats
🦴A bone
🧸Their favorite blankie and stuffie
🦴If their bed is soft and won't get in the way, pack it too.
🐾Do you need a crate on standby in your car in case you're in a meeting?
Do's:
👉Check with your boss and nearby coworkers to get their go-ahead and thumbs up.
👉Be understanding that some people are allergic to dogs, afraid of dogs, or not dog people. It's important to respect their perspective.
👉It's always a plus if your dog is freshly groomed and has clean teeth and breath when they meet everyone. Maybe add a tie, spiffy bowtie, and bring them dressed for success!
Dogs change the dynamic as soon as they arrive at work. The vibe can become more relaxed and fun. They lighten the mood and perspective.
Introduce your pet to start on a positive note for everyone, especially your dog.
😊FYI:
I would be petting your dog and giving him hugs every chance I could and would offer to take him outside, walk around with him, throw a ball to fetch, or play catch.
Don't's
❌️Don't bring a sick pup to work.
❌️Don't bring your dog to work if they're not well-behaved.
Ex: Jumping on people and possibly ripping your boss's new Armani suit or a female co-worker's Ralph Lauren pants. If they love to bark at nothing, does a poo in the newly designed conference room. 💩
Why You Should Bring Dogs to Work:
👉They increase productivity.
👉They boost staff morale.
👉They can lower your BP during a stressful day.
👉They create a friendly informal environment.
👉They provide a feeling of comfort and reduce anxiety.
👉They can provide mental health breaks with their friendly personalities, cold wet noses, helicopter tails, and sloppy kisses.
Dog's have impressive work histories of their own:
🐕Sheep Herder
🦮Guide for the Blind
🐕🦺Protector
🐶Sniff Detector
Dogs love going to work with you!
